Lucknow, Dec.8 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that there is need for more youth participation in Uttar Pradesh state politics.
Rahul said that the focus of his visit to the State was to further his party's youth agenda so as to convince the youth of Uttar Pradesh to take up politics as career.
"In politics, we are habituated to focus only on elections. I don't have any interest in 2012, I am interested in UP's (Uttar Pradesh) future. I want that UP's youth takes this state ahead in a unique way. 2012 will come and new elections would also come. The necessity is to change the thought. I don't focus on elections, I focus on the thoughts. I focus on getting youth in politics and that is my thought." said Rahul Gandhi.
Gandhi's two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, which began on Monday (December 07), is aimed at boosting the membership drive undertaken to re-activate the youth wing of the party. (ANI)
