Forest officials rescue trapped deer in Jalpaiguri
Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), Dec 8(ANI): Forest officials rescued a deer that got trapped in bamboo vegetation in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri town on Tuesday.
The deer, locally called 'Sambar' had strayed towards human habitation after being chased by a tiger and got trapped in the thick bamboo growth.
Some villagers had noticed the stuck animal, who later informed the forest officials.
Mohammed Nasim, a villager, said: "The animal is trapped in a bamboo vegetation. It cannot go back to the forest. We have called the forest officials. They have come and are trying to rescue it and leave it in the forest."
There have been many instances of animals straying into human habitats in Jalpaiguri, as the tea estates act as interface to the forests.
Many a times, the animals succumb to injuries after being attacked by irate villagers. (ANI)
