Delay over Pak captain's announcement for Oz tour surprises Qadir

By Super Admin

Lahore, Dec. 7 (ANI): Former Pakistan chief selector Abdul Qadir has expressed surprise over the delay in the announcement of the captain for the forthcoming Australian tour.

"I simply don't understand why the captain has not been announced yet. The first match versus Tasmania is only 2 weeks away and we have no idea who is going to lead the team on what is probably the toughest tour in moden day cricket" PakPassion.com quoted Qadir, as saying.

"By now Yousuf should have been named as captain. Are the Board waiting for the result of the test series in New Zealand and waiting for the decision on whether to retain Yousuf to be made easier for them?," he added.

The former leg-spinner criticized the PCB for selecting Mohammad Yousuf over Younus Khan.

"If that is the case, then it's not very good planning from the PCB. I think Yousuf should skipper the team in Australia and Younus should be included in the squad," he said.

"As far as the tour of New Zealand is concerned, Younus Khan should be there right now playing test cricket. The Pakistan team needs Younus Khan and Younus Khan needs cricket," he added. (ANI)
