'Tamils in SL will be resettled within 180 days'
New Delhi, Dec 4: In a positive development to the resettlement of Tamils displaced during the Sri Lankan government's operation against LTTE, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has said that resettlement of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) will be done within 180 days.
Stating that India was interested in reviving relationship with Sri Lanka, Krishna said in the Rajya Sabha that India would work towards ensuring humanitarian aid and resettlement of 3,00,000 IDPs in northern part of Sri Lanka.
He said that the Sri Lankan government had assured that the resettlement process will be completed within 180 days and nearly 3,00,000 will be settled in their original places.
