Bangalore, Dec 3: India's second largest software exporter, Infosys is reportedly planning on doubling its headcount in US by hiring about 1,000 employees.

Apart from this, the company is also on a lookout for acquisition targets in Germany, France and Japan, reports Wall Street Journal.

The report published on Thursday, Dec 3 quotes the company's Chief Executive S Gopalakrishnan as saying that the company will be hiring 1,000 employees in the US

Like other IT majors, Infosys, which derives about 66 per cent of its revenue from the US market is establishing foundations to be ready for any expected rise in outsourcing deals as the techonology spending picks up in developed nations, WSJ notes.

The company is trying to decrease the extent of US exposure by increasing its operations in Europe and Asia.

Speaking on acquisitions, S Gopalakrishnan told the leading business publication, "Ordinarily we look at a company of 10pc of our size."

Apart from the company looking for a prospective target of 300 million dollars to 500 million dollars in annual revenue, Gopalakrishnan did not reveal any further details on the business segments it is targeting for acquisitions.
