Restructuring: GM board fires CEO
Detroit, Dec 2: General Motors Co's board of directors on Tuesday, Dec 1 fired chief executive Fritz Henderson and named chairman Ed Whitacre the interim chief executive till a replacement was found.
This comes amid the US automaker's arduous restructuring efforts.
"The board decided - and Fritz agreed - that given where we are, it was time to make some changes," GM spokesman Chris Preuss told the media.
Henderson joined GM eight months ago in Mar 2009.
Henderson's predecessor, Rick Wagoner's ouster also came as part of the US government-funded restructuring.
