Gazza's praises Beardsley for taking him under his wings

By Super Admin

London, Nov 27 (ANI): Troubled football legend Paul Gascoigne has described how former team-mate Peter Beardsley has taken him under his wings.

Recovering alcoholic Gazza, 42, said Beardsley, who is now a youth coach at their former club Newcastle, was even taking him training.

"I'm really well, I'm training at the academy with the kids. It's nice getting involved and getting training again. I'm just enjoying playing football and enjoying every game. I'm keeping myself busy and Peter has been fantastic," The Sun quoted Gazza, as saying.

"He has made sure I am OK and makes sure I have got bread and milk in the fridge. Hopefully I'll progress with doing my own coaching badges," he said.

Beardsley said: "He's given me a bit of credit there, but he deserves the credit. He comes in every day to the academy and the kids love him being there."

Ex-England buddies Gazza and Beardsley were in London on Thursday to promote Newcastle's bid to be a host city for the 2018 World Cup.

The ex-midfielder also said he would soon have "a couple of operations" on long-standing injuries to his hip and kneecap. (ANI)
