Agartala, Nov 26 : Leading educationist from Maharashtra Padmashree Dr Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil who arrived here today will be sworn-in as the twelfth Governor of Tripura tomorrow.
Dr Patil will succeed Dr Kamala, the first woman governor of the Northeastern region, who was administered oath only 42 days ago.
Dr Patil arrived here this morning and was received by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and other Cabinet members and top officials at Agartala airport where he also inspected the guard of honor.
Talking to mediapersons at the airport, Dr Patil assured to take all out efforts for development of education infrastructure and human resource management in the state, besides his constitutional duties.
Dr Kamala left for Gujarat just a few minutes before arrival of Dr Patil and the official send-off programme was organised at the airport itself. Dr Kamala has been appointed the Governor of Gujarat for the remainder of her term.
Raj Bhawan sources said the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Dr Patil tomorrow at 1230 hours at Darbar Hall here. By Pinaki Das (ANI)
