New Delhi, Nov 23: Following reports of violence around the campus, security around Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been beefed up.

Policemen were deployed in large numbers outside the university campus on Monday, Nov 23.

This comes a day after four men were arrested for allegedly misbehaving with women students.

According to the students, the men, who were in an intoxicated state, were misbehaving with women students and threatened a security guard by putting a gun to his head on the campus.

The men identified as Nitin Kapoor, Ankit Nanda, Amit Chauhan and Gagan Kumar drove into the south Delhi campus around 3.30 p.m on Sunday, Nov 22 in their white Hyundai Accent car. They were reportedly drinking in the car.

"After the matter was reported to security guards, one of the four men put a gun on the guard's head saying he was son of a senior police officer," Saurabh Gupta, a student at the university was quoted as saying in a news report.

A senior police officer said, "A case has been registered and the accused will be produced in court."
