India's food inflation rises to 14.55 pc
New Delhi, Nov 19: India's food inflation rose to 14.55 per cent for the first week of Nov 2009 as pulses, mutton and spices turned costlier.
Prices of urad rose by 9 pc, mutton and moong by 4 pc each, while condiments & spices, barley, wheat and bajra turned dearer by 3 pc each compared to the previous week.
However, on the weekly basis, poultry chicken and fruits & vegetables became cheaper by one per cent each.
Prices of potatoes have more than doubled, while onions have become expensive by about 40 per cent.
Among fuels, prices of aviation turbine rose by 11 per cent while that of furnace oil was up one per cent.
