Mike Tyson 'punches' photographer at LA airport

Los Angeles, Nov 12: The heavyweight boxing champion, Mike Tyson is in trouble with the authorities again, after allegedly punching a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.

The police said that Tyson has been detained under suspicion of battery.

"There's a lot of different versions to this story and that's all going to come out later," Sergeant Jim Holcomb said, "There were numerous witnesses and that's what this whole case is going to depend on."

The photographer, who sustained a cut to his forehead, is being treated at a hospital. He told the police that Tyson struck him once.

Tyson's spokeswoman Tammy Brook defended the boxing champ saying that he was with his wife and his daughter when the incident took place and he only reacted aggressively to protect his 10-month-old child.

This comes after Tyson suffered the loss of his four-year-old daughter who died in May 2009 after she accidentally strangled herself with a loose treadmill cord.

The heavyweight champion has a history of violence. He was convicted of rape in 1992 and served three years in prison and in 1999, Tyson was found guilty of assaulting two people after a traffic accident.
