World champ Haye ticked off by mother for calling opponent 'ugly, smelly'

By Super Admin

London, Nov 10 (ANI): World heavyweight champion David Haye has been ticked off by his mother for calling his Russian opponent ugly and smelly.

Jane Haye gave her son a battering about his personal attacks on Nikolai Valuev, who he beat on Saturday night.

Haye beat the gigantic 7ft, 23-stone Russian ahead of their bout by calling him "ugly and smelly," which earned him a ticking-off from mum about his manners, the Daily Star reports.

"I told David: 'Could you not be so personal? I mean, did you have to call him smelly?' And it's not nice calling him ugly. He's not ugly, he's just a big man," she said

Jane, who lives in south London with David's taxi driver dad Deron, 54, destroyed his son's hard-man image by revealing he used to be a perfectly-behaved boy Scout who always loved to cook.

"He always loved the idea of survival. Very often there'd be smoke blowing out in the garden and he'd be cooking eggs out the back," she said.

"David never used to hang around the streets. He never got involved in fights. When my son says the streets of Bermondsey were tough it sounds like he was dragged up. He wasn't. His dad used to drive him around everywhere," Jane said.

"I suppose he wants to paint a picture of a bad boy made good. But he wasn't a bad boy. We were there for him," she added. (ANI)
