Delhi: Train runs over and kills 5 railwaymen
New Delhi, Nov 7: In a mishap believed to have been caused by the low visibility due to the thick smog, a Delhi-bound Dehradun Janshatabdi Express ran over five railwaymen officials killing them near Ghaziabad, on Saturday, Nov 7.
Out of the five who were killed in the accident, one was an officer while four others were gangmen. When the accident took place at 11:30 am, the were working on the track between Ghaziabad and Shahibabad stations, say media reports.
The railway authorities are yet to determine the reason behind the accident and are now questioning the driver.
The incident triggered off protests by railway employees who sat on the tracks and disrupted train services for hours. However, the trains are now back on track and the services have resumed, a Northern Railway spokesman informed.
