US unveils warship bolstered by 9/11 steel
New York, Nov 3: Eight years after the ghastly 9/11 terror attack, United States has unveiled a warship made out of the 7.5 tonnes of steel salvaged from the Twin Towers which were grounded in the strike.
The ship which is a tribute to all those who lost their lives in the attacks arrived on the Hudson River on Monday, Nov 2.
USS New York fired a 21-gun salute as it passed the site of the World Trade Centre in Manhattan.
The ceremony was attended by the members of the New York emergency services, and the kith and kin of victims of the 2001 attacks.
The ship built to honour those who fell victim to the ghastly act of terrorism is being hailed by the media.
While some reports quote the families of the the victims as saying that those killed in the attacks will live in 'spirit' through the ship, other reports dub the ship with names such as the 'floating memorial'.
