UP: Speeding passenger train hits truck, 11 killed
Gonda, Nov 1: At least 11 people have been killed and 24 others injured on Sunday, Nov 1, when a truck was hit by a speeding train at an unmanned railway crossing in the district, official said.
The accident occurred when Gorakhpur-Ayodhya passenger train rammed into a truck at a crossing near Chak Rasoolpur village, between Mankapur and Nawabganj railway stations.
"Eleven people were killed when a truck loaded with sand was hit by the train at an unmanned crossing," acting district magistrate Sukhlal Bharati was quoted by news agency as saying.
The injured have been admitted to nearby health centres, he said, adding senior officials have rushed to the spot.
