Former Pak leg-spinner Imran Tahir eager to play for South Africa

By Super Admin

Islamabad, Nov.1 (ANI): Former Pakistan leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who played for the 'A' team for a long time before shifting to South Africa, has expressed his desires to play for the Proteas in the forthcoming series against England.

Tahir said he would love to play for South Africa in the upcoming series, as he now fulfils all the necessary criteria to be a part of South Africa's national cricket squad.

"I'd love to be given a chance to play against England in the forthcoming series in South Africa. I am now qualified to play for South Africa and played my first domestic match of the season for Easterns and picked up 8 wickets in a 3 day match that was completed today," Tahir told PakPassion.net.

Tahir, however, pointed out that he knows he would have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity to don the South African jersey on a cricket field and added that he was looking forward for another successful stint with the domestic side, Easterns.

"I'm very settled in South Africa and am looking forward to another succesful season for Easterns, although I have to remain patient as Easterns boast a number of current international players in their squad," Tahir said.

Tahir, who recently signed for Warwickshire for the 2010 County season, said he was excited to a part of a leading county team and eagerly waiting to play at Edgbaston.

"I'm looking forward to my third season in County cricket and hope that I can build on the two good seasons I've had at ampshire. Although I have never played at Edgbaston, I'm hopeful that I can do well for Warwickshire and we can have a good eason," he added. (ANI)
