Phoenix Police arrest Iraqi man for running over 'too westernized daughter'
Phoenix (Arizona, US), Oct.31 (ANI): Police in Phoenix, Arizona, have arrested an Iraqi man who allegedly ran over his daughter for being too 'westernised'.
Faleh Almaleki, 48, is accused of driving a jeep at his 20-year-old daughter and a family friend while they were in a car park, CBS reports.
Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef said family and friends of the victim told detectives that Almalek had threatened his daughter because she was not living according to traditional Iraqi values.
The family moved to Arizona from Iraq during the mid-1990s.
The alleged incident happened on October 20 in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona.
Daughter Noor Faleh Almaleki is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A second woman - Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, who is the mother of Noor's boyfriend - was also struck.
After the alleged incident, Almaleki is reported to have driven south across the border to Mexico, boarded a plane in the capital Mexico City and flown to London.
There he was turned back by British authorities and arrested on touchdown at Atlanta airport in Georgia. (ANI)
