IT Officials raid ex Jharkhand CM residence

Ranchi, Oct 31: The residence of former Jharkhand chief Minister Madhu Koda was raided by Income Tax department on Saturday, Oct 31 at different places in Ranchi and Chaibasa.

It has been reported that the Income Tax (IT)officials have so far raided 65 addresses connected to Koda following a complain by Jharkhnad vigilance Department

Apart from Koda, Income Tax Officials have also searched the residences of former minister Hari Narayan Rai and Enos Ekka.

Koda and eight other colleagues were charged by the Enforcement Directorate(ED) on Oct 9 for laundering of money worth crores of rupees.

EC have also booked Koda's former associates Bhanu Pratab Shahi, Bandhu Tirkey and Kamlesh Singh for money laundering, foreign exchange violation and forgery.

Koda is alleged to have estimated property worth 300-400 crores across Singapore, Thailand, Liberia, UAE and Indonesia.

Madhu Koda came to the limelight when he was sworn in as Jharkhand's youngest and fifth Chief Minister on Sep 18, 2006. He was India's third independent MLA to become CM.
