Google revamps Orkut to fight Facebook
Bangalore, Oct 31: In an attempt to thwart the competition from Facebook, Google revamped its social-networking site, Orkut on Friday, Oct 30 based on in-depth research and user feedback.
Apart from changing the design and the look of the site, the Internet major has added a slew of new features to Orkut.
Orkut now comes with options to post video testimonials, to change the colors of the content boxes, to automatically find friends, to uploading pictures in bulk, to add and view photographs and video recordings in-line.
It also comes with a new video chat integrated with Google Talk.
Speaking on Orkut's makeover, Vinay Goel, Google India Head (Products) said, "With the new user interface (UI), the user does not have to visit each page for viewing videos, or say posting scraps. He gets to see all updates and respond to his friends from the homepage itself."
Goel also informed that India is the second developing market for Orkut after Brazil.
