London, Oct. 30 (ANI): Twenty-nine-year-old Wigan Athletic striker Marlon King has been jailed for launching an attack on a 20-year-old club girl, and is known for acting violently towards women, The Sun reports.
King had been involved in two previous bust-ups with females, resulting in three convictions.
Yesterday he was given 18 months' jail for lashing out again - with his lawyer moaning the sentence would cost him up to a million pounds in earnings.
Premier League Wigan immediately fired him, with chairman Dave Whelan declaring: "He is absolutely sacked."
King is believed to have punched the girl after she complained he had brushed her bottom at the nightspot in London's West End. He, however, denies the charge and claims that he was a victim of mistaken identity.
He has been convicted at the capital's Southwark Crown Court of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sexual assault by touching.
Last night, King's agent Tony Finnegan said plans were in place for appeals against both his sentence and his sacking. (ANI)
