No prepaid mobile connections in JK from Nov 1
New Delhi, Oct 30: The prepaid mobile phone connections in Jammu Kashmir will be banned from Nov 1, the Union home ministry said here on Friday, Oct 30.
The ministry has also asked the telecommunications department to take appropriate action in the matter for implementation of the decision.
The decision comes in the wake of the reports that proper verification is not being done while providing such prepaid mobile connections by the service providers/vendors.
This situation had given rise to serious security concerns.
The fake documents/identity numbers are also reportedly being used by the vendors particularly, in the case of prepaid connections.
