Microsoft to close MSN Direct
New Delhi, Oct 30: Software giant Microsoft has announced that it is shutting down its MSN Direct GPS services.
Microsoft has posted a notice on its MSN Direct website informing users that the services will be available only until Jan 1, 2012.
The post said, "MSN Direct service will be available only until Jan 1, 2012. Customers can continue to enjoy the full benefits of MSN Direct, along with service and support, up until that date.
"Pro-rated refunds for unused portions of existing One-Time Payment and other subscription plans will be automatically credited after Jan 1, 2012," the post added.
MSN Direct is a service integrated into some GPS devices that uses FM signals to provide traffic data, weather, stocks, movie times, and various other similar info. It uses FM radio frequencies to deliver the data.
