Kabul attack ends, death toll mounts to 10
Kabul, Oct 28: The gunbattle between the militants and the Afghanistan forces in Kabul has reportedly come to an end. The death toll has risen to 10, out of which six were UN staff, say latest media reports.
At around 6:30 am (local time) on Wednesday, Oct 28 a group of militants launched an attack on Afghanistan capital ahead of the presidential elections. Afghan security forces were rushed in, who started operations against the militants holed up inside the building.
UN spokesman Adrian Edwards confirmed that six UN staff were killed while nine other of the agency's staff were injured.
The militants also attacked Serena Hotel with rocket launchers. The luxury hotel is popular among the foreign guests.
Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility on the guest house and the Serena hotel along with stating that the attack was launched in the view of the upcoming elections.
