New Delhi, Oct 27: Anne Marie Idrac, Minister for Foreign Trade France has said that it can help India develop its food processing sector by offering its expertise and technology in the area.
"We can and must strengthen the ties linking French agro-food sectors," Idrac said, while speaking at an interactive session on Indo-French cooperation in agriculture and food processing, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Monday, Oct 26.
Anne- Marie Idrac also said, "All the French companies in the delegation are eager for partnership with India in these areas on a long run."
The minister highlighted that France and India have started a new strategic partnership two years ago, and share many common goals, one of them is to secure the access to good and safe food to growing world population.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Food Processing Industries, Subodh Kant Sahai said that more that 70 per cent of 1.2 billion population depends on agriculture.
He said that India and France can collaborate on a number of fronts in the field of agriculture and food processing
Sahai also pointed out that India has abundant raw material and France has technology expertise, hence there is a need for a complete food park with French technologies which can act as a successful business model for the whole country.
