Violent protests erupt after Friday prayers in Srinagar
Srinagar, Oct 23 (ANI): Violent protests erupted in the Mysooma area of Srinagar soon after the Friday prayers on the call of separatist.
Many people, including some security personnel, were injured in Mysooma, which witnessed pitched street battles over the issue of land occupations by the armed forces in Kashmir valley alleged by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the Chairman of the hardline faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC).
Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) used tear gas and batons to disperse mob in order to control the situation.
The clashes triggered tension in the city and led to the closure of shops and businesses establishments in the busy Lal Chowk.
Transport was also disrupted for a while, but was later restored.
The separatists have called for protests against the land occupation by the army. (ANI)
