Abducted police officer released, reaches home
Kolkata, Oct 23: Atindranath Dutta, the police officer who was abducted by Maoists from the Sankrail police station in West Midnapore district about two days ago was released. Reports say Dutta returned home in the early hours of the morning on Friday, Oct 23.
Dutta who was escorted by commandos from the state police department reached him North Kolkata residence at about 2 am to be greeted by his family and relatives.
On Thursday, Oct 22 night, the police officer was handed over to journalists near Lalgarh. After his release, Dutt reported to Jhargram police station and then went for a medical-check up before returning home.
The extremists released Dutt unharmed after the women arrested by the security forces in anti-Maoist operations in West Midnapore district were released on bail by a court.
