Ex-Brit squaddie gets free boob job after sex change op

London, Oct 23 (ANI): A former soldier of the British Army, who had a sex-change op, has been given a free boob job after claiming she grew deformed boobs after undergoing years of hormone therapy to become a woman.

Sarah-Jane Smith, 50, a father of one who used to be known as Private W. E. Smith, and who quit the forces in 1985, claimed her real breasts "damaged her psychologically".

Doctors told the transsexual she needed surgery to correct the problem but Sarah-Jane refused to pay up.

On October 22 she won her landmark case in Germany, where health insurance authority DAK agreed to pay her 5,400 pounds.

"I need this for my sanity. People discriminate against me," the Daily Star quoted Sarah-Jane as having said at an earlier hearing.

"My life has become hell. I will not be a real a woman without these breasts. They are vital to my overall completeness as a female and I don't think it is unreasonable for the health authority to pay," she had pleaded.

Smith had settled in Hanover after serving in the British Army there for eight years, while wearing lingerie under his uniform.

As a man, he married a German woman while serving in the country and fathered a daughter by her.

Smith, originally from Birchington, Kent, said he was a woman "trapped inside a man's body" and would not reveal his first name. (ANI)
