Pak religious party to hold referendum against Kerry-Lugar Bill

Rawalpindi, Oct. 20 (ANI): Pakistani religious party Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has decided to hold a referendum on Kerry-Lugar Bill on October 23, saying that the masses will not tolerate the government favouring anti-Pakistan aid bill.

The Nation quoted JI Punjab Naib Ameer Mian Aslam as saying that the referendum would totally change the fate of the country.

He urged people to take part in the referendum and express their views on KLB Act.

He said that America was being allowed by PPP-led government to intervene in the internal affairs of the country in return of aid.

"Treasury benches and Opposition are befooling innocent masses by receiving aid through the KLB Act, which is a great threat to the sovereignty of the country," he said.

Aslam also said that the government launched military operation in South Waziristan Agency on the nod of America, which was responsible for terrorism in Pakistan.

He demanded of the government to halt military operation in Waziristan and adopt way of negotiations with tribes' elders. (ANI)
