London, Oct 19(ANI): Anjem Choudary, a Muslim fundamentalist preacher and leader of the Islamist organization al-Muhajiroun, has sparked fury after he asked the Queen to convert to Islam and become a Muslim.
According to reports, Choudary said that Queen, who is the head of the Church of England, and senior members of the U.K Government should convert to ensure their place in paradise.
"We invite everyone from the Queen, to the ministers, to the Parliament, to the aristocracy, to the ordinary person in Britain to embrace Islam," The Sun quoted Choudary, as saying.Save yourself and your children in this life from misery and prepare them for a great destiny in the hereafter," he added.
It is believed that Choudary made the remarks to promote a march supporting Sharia law, which will be held in London this month.
The 42-year-old also made a scathing reference to the next general election, and said: "Britain does not need a new leader, it needs a revolution - an Islamic revolution."
Meanwhile, several government officials laughed off his remarks, and branded Choudary an "extremist nut".
"It'd be laughable if we didn't know that some take this man seriously," said Andrew Dismore, a Labour MP. (ANI)
