Kerry Lugar bill's fate should be decided by parliament: Sharif
Islamabad, Oct.17 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif has said that the fate of the Kerry-Lugar bill should be decided by parliament.
Interacting with mediapersons after a meeting of PML-N leaders, Sharif reiterated that the terms and conditions attached with the bill were against Pakistan's national interest and dignity.
He said the monetary help would not be able to solve the country's wide-ranging problems.
"The key to success is self-reliance because nations charter their destiny themselves," The Dawn quoted Sharif, as saying.
Attacking the Gilani government, he said the government should come out with an explanation over how such 'stern' clauses were attached with the Kerry-Lugar bill, which President Obama has already approved.
"Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi should have consulted political parties before going to the US to thrash out differences over the bill. The situation wouldn't have reached such a stage had the government implemented the Charter of Democracy which we still want to implement," Sharif said. (ANI)
