Rahul Gandhi meets slain inspector's family
Ranchi, Oct 15: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, Oct 15 visited the house of police inspector Francis Induwar, who was killed by Maoists.
Rahul Gandhi, on the second day of his visit to Jharkand, interacted with the special branch inspector's widow Sunita and her children.
Rahul told Sunita and her children that he too had lost his father Rajiv Gandhi, a former prime minister, in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu in 1991 to a suicide bomber.
Speaking to the children of Induwar, Rahul said, "I too lost my father. But I was 19 then, much older than you. Study well."
"Rahul Gandhi also asked me on suggestions to curb left-wing extremism in the state and I replied that basic amenities like health, education and roads should be provided in rural areas," Sunita said to reporters.
On Sep 30, Induwar was kidnapped by Maoists. They wanted the release of two of their leaders Kobad Ghandy and Chatrodhar Mahato in exchange for his release. Induwar's headless body was found on the Jamshedpur-Ranchi Highway on Oct 6.
