Pananji, Oct 14: One of the biggest tourist destinations of India is now being plagued by mysterious deaths of women. According to media reports, the police have found at least four dead bodies of women in three days.
The police on Wednesday, Oct 14 found a partially decomposed body of a middle-aged woman a few kilometers away from Pananji. This body was found near a primary school in Porvorim.
On Tuesday, Oct 13 a halfburnt, semi-naked body of a woman suspected to be in her early twenties was discovered at Khorjuvem. In another incident, police found the decomposed body of a woman in some bushes near the government primary school at Succor, Bardez.
The baffled police are trying to find similarities between the victims. They, however, believe that it is still premature to link the murders.
The faces of all the four victims were charred making the identification difficult. The post-mortem reports of the first three victims are still awaited.
The body of a woman found on Tuesday, Oct 13 is believed to be that of a woman in her early twenties with Mongolian feature. She reportedly had mehendi on her hands and sindoor on her forehead which could mean that she was newly married.
The police believe that she might have been murdered elsewhere and later brought to the spot where she was found.
In an interesting observation, the woman's body was found on the roadside despite the presence of overgrown bushes just a few metres away. Also, rubber chappals were placed on her private parts before her body burnt.
In the earlier case, the woman's body was found in a Succor school. The woman who could be around 25 to 30 years old was wearing a green saree and her head was smashed.
