Twitter, Facebook to fly with the flights
Bangalore, Oct 13: For all those Tweeter-freaks who miss being active on the micro-blogging site while travelling in a flight, Luftansa has come up with the solution.
Lufthansa's MySkyStatus is designed for helping the fliers to keep their friends updated on their status through Twitter and also the social networking site, Facebook.
The application takes users' flight information such as departure and arrival data, and matches it to Lufthansa's feed of airline traffic, therefore producing automated tweets or Facebook status messages on the flights' progress.
"Lufthansa digital agency Profero in New York devised the tool, available for any flight, as a simple way to prove the brand's differentiation, which is its passion for precision," Profero North America CEO Wayne Arnold was quoted as saying in media reports.
Apart from planning a big marketing campaign to support the new application, the airline is also mulling over the possibility of integrating that effort with the booking engine on Lufthansa.com.
