'Single entrance exam for central universities'
New Delhi, Oct 13: The government on Tuesday, Oct 13 asked the newly created central universities to conduct a single entrance exam for the students.
The proposal was presented during Sibal's meeting with Vice Chancellors of 15 universities.
Speaking to reporters, Sibal said, "The 15 central universities will conduct one exam to take in students. This single entrance system may be extended to other existing 25 central universities later."
These universities have been created by the Central Act 2009. Sibal said the government will ensure that all these institutions evolve as world class universities.
"These universities will design courses keeping in mind the peculiar problem and ecosystem of the state. The courses will be unique to each university," he said.
If the proposal is accepted the students can get admission to Under Graduation and Post-Graduation courses through single exam in 15 central universities.
