New Delhi, October 12 (ANI): The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) on Monday expressed satisfactions over the preparations for 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Addressing the media here after reviewing of the preparations for three-day, CGF President Michael Fennel said: "Each and every member of the delegation is extremely overwhelmed by the preparation that Delhi is doing."
"A year back I indeed said that time was your friend, but now a year to go for the Games I told them (organizing committee) that time is your enemy, but together we can defeat it," Fennel added.
Expressing satisfaction over the steps taken by the Government on security related aspects, Fennel said: "Though the security remains as a concern for us, but the Government of India is giving high priority for the security in the country and we expect the same for the Commonwealth Games too."
Earlier in the day, Union Sports Minister M.S. Gill, assured the CGF that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was personally taking interest to ensure a successful holding of the event.
"The Prime Minister takes meetings regularly and has given the Group of Ministers under Jaipal Reddy the mandate to ensure that we are ready and complete for the Games. The Prime Minister is clear that whatever needs to be spent for a successful conduct of the Games will be done," Gill said.
The Commonwealth games' organising committee had recently received a lot of flak for its tardy progress with the construction of many venues, including the games' village, which was said to be running behind schedule and forced the postponement of many international meetings planned as test events.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be India's first major international sports event since the 1982 Asian Games. New Delhi had also hosted the inaugural Asian Games in 1951. (ANI)
