SC stops construction of Maya's Noida park
New Delhi, Oct 9: The Supreme Court on Fridy, Oct 9 stopped all construction activities in the upcoming Noida park.
A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justice S H Kapadia and Justice Aftab Alam imposed the ban on construction activities till Oct 26.
The ban imposed during the hearing of an application by apex court-appointed Central Empowered Committee which had objected to the development of the park after cutting down over 6,000 trees.
The apex court had earlier stayed construction work at various Dalit memorials in Lucknow.
But the Uttar Pradesh government had violated the Supreme Court's order for the chief secretary has been asked to appear before the court.
