Nelson Piquet Jr hopes to make a comeback to F1

By Super Admin

London, Oct 9(ANI): Disgraced former Renault Formula One racing driver Nelson Piquet Jr has said that he is looking forward to make a comeback to F1 racing less that 12 months after the Singapore Grand Prix fiasco.

According to reports, the 23-year-old is on the shortlist for new Spanish entrants Campos and he is also in contact with a number of F1 outfits.

Piquet Jr believes that it is crucial to make a swift return to rescue his motor racing career.

"I want to clear up this business rapidly, so it doesn't stay with me for the rest of my life. I need a decent team, a decent engineer. A team that believes in me," The Mirror quoted Piquet Jr, as saying.

"I don't know which one it will be, but I do know I will go back to racing," he added.

Piquet Junior was involved in a major controversy, where he claimed that his former team, Renault had "threatened" to withdraw his contract unless he agreed to purposefully crash during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.

In what has become known as "crashgate", the French manufacturer was last month found guilty of causing an accident to aid the cause of their driver Fernando Alonso, who went on to win the race.

The FIA's World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) also handed over a two-year suspended ban to Renault Formula One team over the issue and it also cost former Renault team principal Flavio Briatore and executive director of engineering Pat Symonds their jobs, with the pair being banned from any participation in the sport.
