Malaysians put off demolition of 130-year-old Indian temple
Selangor (Malaysia), Oct.9 (ANI): Authorities in the Malaysian state of Selangor have put off the demolition of the 130-year-old Sri Maha Mariamman temple, which is located in Jenjarom.
A decision to put off the demolition was reached after an agreement between the temple committee, the developer and the Kuala Langat police, reports The Star.
The paper quoted temple president M. Sinnayah, as saying that the Banting police had instructed developer KLIA Holdings to postpone the demolition after resolving the issue of relocation.
It was also felt that demolishing the temple during the Deepavali season might cause resentment in the Indian community, he said. (ANI)
