Guwahati, Oct 9 (ANI): The Union Home Ministry's Joint Secretary Navin Verma was presiding over a high level meeting here on Friday to review the security situation prevailing in all eight north eastern states.
Director Generals of Police, Inspector Generals of Police and other top administrative officials of all the north-eastern states are participating in the meeting.
According to sources, the setting up of a joint intelligence sharing mechanism in these states is under consideration. The meeting is also to discuss the new strategies to deal with the insurgency activities in these states.
Issues related to the modernization of the state police forces, the rehabilitation of surrendered militants, the filling up of vacancies and the sanction of additional posts in the police forces are also likely to figure in the meeting. (ANI)
