Commonwealth team visits Delhi's Thyagraj Stadium

By Super Admin

New Delhi, Oct 8 (ANI): Amid mounting concern over New Delhi's slow preparation for the Commonwealth Games next year, a team of the games' committee on Thursday visited the Thyagraj Stadium, which is expected to open at the end of December.

Led by Mike Fennell, the President of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), the team also visited the games village to assess the progress there.

The stadium is the only site that is expected to meet the completion deadline.

The stadium has been touted as the first green stadium in the country as environment-friendly material like fly-ash bricks and specialized glasses are being used for its construction.

The stadium would also be the first government building to use a gas-based turbine to meet its power needs.

The Commonwealth delegation was given a presentation on the stadium's green concept. (ANI)
