Andhra Pradesh DGP vows to fight terrorism
Hyderabad, Oct 8 (ANI): R.R. Girish Kumar, new Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh has sought cooperation of all agencies to fight terror.
"First and foremost requirement to tackle terrorism is constant vigilance and by all people and by all agencies. For that we require the cooperation of all the agencies and the Government also to see whatever agencies we have in Andhra Pradesh," Kumar said after assuming office here on Wednesday.
"We have recently established Octopus. We have counter-intelligence agencies and intelligence wings in other districts. We must see that all work together. We get timely intelligence to see that steps are taken to nip those activities in bud," Kumar told reporters here after assuming office.
Last week, the Government of India had said it was increasing security to thwart possible militant strikes in the country days after Israel and Australia issued warnings to its citizens to avoid travelling to Indian cities.
Israel and Australia have issued travel warnings to its citizens based on intelligence inputs on militant strikes. (ANI)
