Rahul Gandhi blames 'short-sighted politics' for lack of regional development
Agartala, Oct 7 (ANI): Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Uttar Pradesh lagged behind in development because of myopic political vision.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Rahul blamed shortsighted political vision for the sorry state of affairs in the State.
"Uttar Pradesh is a victim of short-sighted politics and for me I go to Uttar Pradesh because I want Uttar Pradesh to develop," he added.
"It has nothing to do with Mayawatiji or Mulayam Singh Yadavji or anybody else. For me, I as an Indian and as an Indian involved in politics, I think it is unacceptable that a state the size of Uttar Pradesh is not growing, is not productive," he said.
Rahul, who was in the fortress of Indian communists, added that more space should be made in his party's youth organisations for youngsters belonging to Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes who sit at the bottom of India's age-old caste system.
"We need to focus much more aggressively on tribals, and SC's and ST's, I think we need to make space for youngsters from particularly these communities in our youth organisation." he said
Rahul Gandhi's visit to Tripura is seen as an attempt to take forward his roadmap for organisational rejuvenation to the communists-ruled states. (ANI)
