New Delhi, Oct 7 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Wednesday admitted an appeal filed by the Supreme Court challenging its order which had held that the office of hief Justice of India comes within the ambit of the RTI Act and constituted a special three-judge bench to decide the issue.

A bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Murlidhar fixed November 12 and 13 for deciding on the appeal.

The court did not pass a stay order on the single judge bench verdict of September 2 after the Supreme Court did not press for it.

The High Court had in its September 2 verdict said the Chief Justice of India is a public authority under the RTI Act, which means that asset declaration is covered by the RTI under Section 8 1 (A).

This comes after SC judges had decided to make their assets public. The only question was whether judges would entertain questions from the public under the RTI Act.

A petition was filed by the apex court in the Delhi High Court challenging the Central Information Commission Common Order which had questioned whether the judges had revealed their assets to the Chief Justice of India. (ANI)
