New Delhi, Oct 6(ANI): Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) on Tuesday introduced a proposal to set up gender help-desks during Commonwealth Games 2010 for helping women coming from overseas to attend the mega sporting event.
The proposal was introduced at a function at the Delhi secretariat that was addressed by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
Barkha Singh, chairperson of DCW, said that the gender help-desks would provide all sort of help to females coming from overseas.
"A lot of ladies will come for participation and other reasons. So, to look into their problems and to provide them help, we will set up gender help-desks. We will have gender help-desks at airports, hospitals, Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT) and railway stations so that any lady in distress can contact the help-desks, which will look into her requirements," Singh said.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be held between 3 and 14 of October in New Delhi, and will be India's first major international sports event after the 1982 Asian Games. (ANI)
