National road racing championship held in Tamil Nadu

Irungattukottai (TN), Oct 5 (ANI): Spectators thronged to witness the finals of the national road racing championship held in Irungattukottai city of Tamil Nadu.

More than 100 drivers participated in the close neck to neck races held in different categories.

"This championship is the only racing championship that we have to promote motor sport talent in this country. I have been participating in this championship for nine long years. I have won the championship couple of times, "said Akbar Ebrahim, a participant.

This national level race aims to prepare Indian drivers to take a shot at the exciting world of Formula One car racing.

"It's a learning curve. They have been doing pretty well in a year. It is a great opportunity for youngsters to be able to get into former roll on," said Sarosh Aatrya, another racing driver.

India has leading drivers including Narain Karthikeyan, Karun Chandhok and others who are now representing India in the international arena. (ANI)
