Shimla, Oct 3(ANI): Bishop Cotton School (BCS), one of oldest boarding schools in Shimla, is holding weeklong celebrations on the occasion of its 150th anniversary.
"We all decided a year ago to celebrate this with a big bang and it's all gone off very till today. Yesterday, we had started it off at Chandigarh," said Sukhbinder Singh, Organiser of Old Cottonian Association.
The main attractions of the celebrations are Goodwill cricket matches, opening of the doors of BCS hall and the cultural performances.
Speaking on the occasion Harish Janartha, Deputy Mayor of Shimla and alumni of the school, said: "It is one of the greatest achievement for the school and it is a great honour for us to be the part of the celebrations."
Meanwhile, hundreds of alumni of the school, including a special delegation from Pakistan led by former Pakistani Ambassador to India, Humayun Khan have come to the school.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal inaugurated the celebrations, which began on October 1 and will conclude on October 6.
Bishop George Edward Lynch Cotton had founded the school on July 28, 1859. (ANI)
