JK: Baramulla tense after death of 13-year-old
Srinagar, Oct 3: Violence erupted in Baramulla following the death of a 13-year-old on Friday, Oct 2 forcing the police to impose a curfew north Kashmir town on Saturday, Oct 3.
The boy was sustained serious injuries when the police used tear gas shells to control the group of youth protesting continued house arrest of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani.
13-year-old Irfan Ahmad Lone died in hospital on Friday, Oct 2. Scores of people who joined the funeral shouted anti-India slogans after the Friday evening prayers.
Police and paramilitary reinforcements have been deployed in the town to maintain law and order.
Restrictions have been enforced in the neighbouring Sopore town and security forces have been deployed there as well.
This comes two months after the violence in Baramulla following the report of alleged police misbehavior with local woman.
