London, Oct.1 (ANI): Golf star Tiger Woods has become the first billion-dollar athlete after just 13 years as a professional, according to US rich-list experts Forbes.
The 6.2 million pound cheque he picked up on Sunday for winning the FedEx Cup took the 33-year-old's earnings past the one billion dollar mark, reports The Sun.
The American, who has won 14 golf major championships, has been the world's highest paid sportsman since 2002 when he overtook F1's Michael Schumacher.
On top of prize money, he earns 62-million-pounds-a-year from sponsorship, advertising and endorsements, including 20-million-pounds from sportswear giant Nike.
He also rakes in 6.2-million-pounds for each golf course he designs.
Woods says he has at least ten years of golf left in him following career-saving knee surgery. (ANI)
