New Delhi, Sep 29(ANI): Lieutenant General M.C. Badhani on Tuesday took over as the Director General of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the organisation that maintains roads in border areas of the country.
Lt. Gen Badhani succeeds Lieutenant General A.K. Nanda and is the 20th chief of the organization.
Before taking over as the Director General of the BRO, Lt. Gen Badhani was Commandant of the Selection Centre East at Allahabad.
The BRO has earned the reputation of being the only road construction agency to maintain roads in difficult and inhospitable terrain and climate.
It has the unique honour of constructing 46780 kilometres of roads, 33060 metres of bridges, constructing and maintaining 19 airfields and various other allied works both in India and abroad.
Lt. Gen Badhani, is an alumnus of National Defence Academy in Pune, Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, College of Defence Management in Secunderabad and National Defence College in New Delhi.
He was commissioned into Bengal Sappers in November 1971 and during his 38 years of illustrious service in the Army, he has held varied command, instructional and staff appointments, which include the command of an Specialist Engineer Regiment, Chief Engineer of a Strike Corps, Chief Engineer Command and Brigadier-in-charge administration of a Desert Corps.
