Sydney, Sep 29 (ANI): An unlicensed Aussie man, who was pulled over for drink driving, is said to have shocked two northern NSW police officers when they found him wearing nothing but shoes and socks.
The 23-year-old Lismore man was arrested in the nude after he allegedly failed to stop for a random breath test on Ballina Road at Lismore about 1.15am on September 27.
The policemen had chased his car along Ballina Road for about five minutes as he drove over five roundabouts at an alleged speed of up to 135km/h through a 60km/h zone.
It was revealed that at one point the man allegedly hit a kerb heavily, and the impact of the smash flattened the car's tyres but he still kept on driving, straddling two lanes at times.
He eventually stopped at the intersection of Ballina Road and Oliver Avenue, where officers found him wearing nothing but a pair of shoes and socks.
Senior Constable Michael Hogan, from Richmond Local Area Command, said that the patrol officers were shocked to find him as "naked as a jay bird".
"Very seldom do they come across naked drivers," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hogan as saying.
The officers gave the man a large blanket and took him to Lismore police station, where they allege he recorded a mid-range blood alcohol reading of .115 in a breath test.
He was charged with reckless driving, middle-range prescribed concentration of alcohol, unlicensed driving and disobeying a request to stop for a breath test.
He was granted bail and will appear in Lismore Local Court on October 26. (ANI)
